Kaskipuro Pentti etching purchased in Biennale De Sao Paulo c1974. Entitled Nuveus ll. number 17 out of 30. (b Helsinki, 10 Oct 1930). Finnish printmaker. He was self-taught, and he first exhibited publicly in 1953, becoming almost immediately the leading figure among the younger generation of Finnish graphic artists. During the 1950s he explored etching and drypoint, producing realistic depictions of such subjects as the fleeting landscape seen from a train window or human figures from his immediate environment. At the beginning of the 1960s he adopted the intimate, simplified still-life that remained his subject area. His work, in response to contemporary developments in art or in society, remained unchanged. This text was taken from http://www.artnet.com/library/04/0459/T045942.asp This was acquire from the artist. Excellent condition, signed lower right. The viewable area of the print measures 8 by 9 and one half inches, over all 18 by 24 inches.
